The Pelham Summerfest 2022 planning is underway, and the committee is
looking to welcome back the signature summer event this year after two years of being
cancelled because of the pandemic.
The 2022 Pelham Summerfest volunteer committee is working behind the scenes in
preparation for the 10th year of the festival. The planning for the event includes
considerations of the current provincial regulations and the best practices and
recommendations from public health for events. The committee acknowledged that
regulations might impact this year’s event and are working on contingency planning to
ensure as many elements as possible return this year.
“Pelham Summerfest has the spirit of the community embedded in every part of the
festival, from the volunteers to the vendors to the people who show up every year to
celebrate and enjoy,” said Town of Pelham, Director of Recreation Culture and Wellness
Vickie vanRavenswaay. “This year, the committee is looking forward to bringing the
festival back and providing an opportunity to come and chill on the hill again.”
Held the third weekend in July, Pelham Summerfest 2022 offers four free days of family
fun with the kick-off on Thursday, July 14, with the SummerChill Series in the park,
followed by Friday’s Country night, Saturday’s street festival and Sunday’s car show.
Applications are currently being accepted for volunteers and committee members to
support this year’s event.
Pelham Summerfest last ran in 2019 and welcomed over 30,000 attendees, 65 vendors
and 30 bands during the four-day event. The festival was recognized in 2020, the sixth
year in a row, as a Festivals & Events Ontario (FEO) top-100 festival. The event relied on
the dedication of volunteers and community groups for its success, and in 2019 over 1,200
hours of volunteer time supported the event.
