The Pelham Summerfest Committee is the driving force behind our fabulous, award winning event. While the event itself takes many hands on deck for four days, the Committee are at the rudder year round, shaping and directing the Festival, working to bring you the best experience every year. The Committee is made up of volunteers from the community at large, the Pelham Business Association, Pelham Active Transportation Committee, Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee, staff and Council.
This year the Committee welcomed four new members and we would like you to meet them here.
Candy Ashbee – Pelham Business Association
Candy Ashbee joined the Pelham Summerfest committee as a Pelham Business Association representative. She previously participated in Pelham Summerfest as a retail vendor when she owned a shop on Pelham Street. She was also a member of the Pelham Supper Market committee and the Christmas in Pelham committee.
She attended Niagara College for Business Administration Marketing Management. Candy is now the Social Media Account Co-ordinator for myNiagaraOnline where she puts her marketing skills to work. Candy and, her husband, Dave have a daughter.
Matthew Leask – Community at Large
Matt is a recent graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, and works in Corporate, Municipal, and Real Estate Law at Lancaster, Brooks & Welch LLP’s St. Catharines office. Matt plays in the Pelham Slo-Pitch league and has volunteered in the Kid Zone at Summerfest in past years. Matt lives in Fonthill and is engaged to Caitlin. They will be getting married in the summer of 2016!
Michelle Stewart – Community at Large
This is a new beginning for Michelle Stewart. It is her first year in the Fonthill community, first year on the Summerfest Committee, and her first anniversary for her business, Passion Events. Since creating events with passion is Michelle’s focus, she has joined the Summerfest team to assist in giving the community an event that draws local residents and visitors from the Niagara region.
When not working on her business or volunteering with Summerfest, she is busy with her two boys, volunteering with her church and coaching a tyke team for the Welland Raiders Lacrosse Association.
